Administrative Assistant at Congregation Dor Tikvah

Congregation Dor Tikvah is seeking a dedicated and organized Administrative Assistant to support the smooth operation of the synagogue. This is a full-time role, based in our elegant office space Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Friday/Erev Yom Tov 9 am to 2 pm (1 pm in the winter). Our office is closed on all Jewish and Federal holidays. The employee will also benefit from vacation and sick days. 
 
This will be an interesting and varied role for which we seek a self-driven and flexible individual with an eye for detail, and good communication and organization skills, to market a range of religious, social, and educational activities, engaging the whole community in a broad calendar of regularly timetabled and one-off events.  The role will also involve supporting the Rabbi, President, Youth Directors, programming committees, and accountant with general office tasks and marketing, and dealing directly with community members.
 
With a can-do attitude, the ability to work effectively when unsupervised and collaboratively as part of a team, the post holder will have strong computing skills, website maintenance and flyer design (Canva) capabilities, and a knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Docs. The successful applicant will work professionally with the leadership and volunteers to advance the Synaguoge's mission.

Candidate Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of Jewish customs, calendar, and practices

  • Strong computing skills, including document editors, spreadsheets, Zoom, and Canva

  • Efficiency in their work, the ability to plan ahead, and can also work to tight deadlines, when needed

  • Proficient in English, Hebrew desirable.

  • General understanding of technology; including the ability to learn Synagogue software (Shulcloud) for database management and communication and Wix website management

  • Exemplary character, including integrity, confidentiality, caring, and kindness

Job Start Date:

The ideal candidate is available for hire soon and can begin salaried training ASAP. The full-time responsibilities would begin on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience
